Mother’s Burden (Baare Maadar)
Mother’s Grace (Baaregi-e Madar)

Mother’s Burdon and Mother’s Grace are works belonging to Amir Aziz’s recent series, Ancient Future. In this body of work, the artist blends his interest in the ancient history of his homeland with his vision of technological futurism to craft imagined histories. The images and objects that Aziz creates through a variety of digital techniques evoke historic artifacts that cannot be ascribed to a specific period or place. They require visitors to engage with an imaginative gaze that is both retrospective and speculative. The works explore the perception of time as a cyclical progression and invites visitors to reflect on their own historical footprint as descendants who are becoming ancestors. What will remain of us? What stories, myths, blessings, or burdens will our era contribute to posterity’s imagination? These questions ultimately challenge visitors to examine our notions of relevance, value, and legacy through a critical historical lens.
