Mohsen Khalili (b. 1966, Tehran) is an Iranian-Canadian multidisciplinary conceptual artist who lives and works in Vancouver, BC. In a career spanning over 3 decades, Khalili’s works have been presented in numerous museums, gallery exhibitions, and biennales in Canada and across the world, including Iran, Japan, Taiwan, and Kuwait. Over the past 7 years, Khalili’s work has been supported by multiple grants and awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, most recently, the Canada Council for the Arts’ Explore and Create grant in 2021.

While Khalili’s work is positioned in dialogue with multiple artistic traditions and techniques, his practice draws inspiration from his deeply personal experiences of love, loss, displacement, disability, isolation, and longing to belong. By merging various artistic disciplines, genres, and mediums, Khalili seeks to build an inclusive visual language that highlights the universality of these experiences, turning his practice into an opportunity for collective catharsis and finding common ground.
